Location: Arlington, Virginia

The Operations Assistant is a highly visible position that serves as a focal point for the operations of the ANC Welcome Center, providing support as a dispatcher and an administrative assistant, as well as other assigned operational type duties. This position will be responsible for the Welcome Center computer (with e-mail capability), central telephone, and base radio to facilitate communication between contractor personnel and ANC personnel. They shall have experience supporting an operations center focused on facility or installation operations, particularly venues with public visitors and tourists.

The Operations Assistant will work from the visitor information desk inside the Welcome Center. They will interact with visitors throughout the day and will occasionally be required to cover other positions on the contract.

The Operations Assistant will also prepare communications, such as memos, emails, and other correspondence. They will edit and update documents such as reports, training forms, and internal spreadsheets. They will maintain filing systems, both electronic and physical. The Operations Assistant is also responsible for all equipment (e.g., radios, wands, earpieces, and office supplies) and is expected to inventory it daily.

Basic Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) skills are required.

Job requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • An Associate degree or certificate in a field relevant to visitor operations of a large public facility, national park, or similar venue. Examples of relevant degrees or certificates include, but are not limited to, the following: communications, business management, or operations; or

  • Two years of related post-secondary education and two years of relevant professional experience at a large public venue or government facility, or

  • Five years of relevant experience and a high school diploma or equivalent

  • Must be able to pass an extensive background investigation
